About Us
Diversifying Fitness Training
Nadia Kate, the visionary behind Nadia K Academy, a pioneering social entrepreneur based in the South West. Committed to revolutionising the landscape of fitness coaching and education, the training Academy offers certified trauma-informed qualifications through an innovative online platform and interactive workshops.
"Welcome to my training academy where I have combined my passions with my problems. Fitness and education are my passion in life but the challenge has always been the lack of diversity within these. I believe the change comes from how we, as instructors, are trained and the message we portray. I am so passionate about changing the fitness landscape and making more people feel included and I want to pass this enthusiasm onto my learners so we can create kinder, more welcoming fitness spaces that see people's barriers through a trauma informed lens. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to a better quality of life."
Inclusivity is at the heart of all my businesses
My journey started in 2011 when I opened up my own fitness studio in Newquay, Cornwall. It was the most incredible and vibrant little spot and gave me the ability to get to know each and every one of my clients on a personal level which I loved.
I am an active listener and when people said, “Nad, I just don’t want to look at my wobbly bits when I workout”, I listened and decided to do something about it. I teamed up with a boxing company who were trialling their new sessions and that’s when I decided to start running all my sessions from the nightclub after gaining my clients feedback. It gave me a larger area, louder music and no mirrors!
So I took it to the nightclubs
After moving to Plymouth in 2015 and spending many years trialling different venues and class formats. I created Club Kombat based solely on listening to people’s barriers. It was created for those who wanted to build confidence, feel stronger and be part of something new. For those who love going on a night out but can’t deal with the hangover!
Club Kombat is still innovating and adapting and has seen some great recognition over the years. We have won a Diversity Business Incubator Champion Business Award, an MTM Health & Wellbeing Award for the South West and we have been recognised as a champion Social Enterprise within the Plymouth Social Enterprise Network.
Creating a more inclusive society
We are on a mission to champion inclusivity and empowerment through both education and fitness training. By bringing all of Nadia’s projects together and recognizing the importance of trauma-informed approaches, we are dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating a more welcoming society for all.
As part of this commitment, we are proud to collaborate with the Plymouth Trauma-Informed Network, aligning our efforts to support individuals on their journey to holistic well-being. Together, we strive to cultivate a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued, building resilience and growth within our trainers so they can have a positive impact on more of the community.
Moving forward, after you qualify we have the support network, fitness platform and strong partnerships to be able to mentor and grow with you, elevating your development and network.
